Accessibility Coordinator

We’re looking for someone to serve as an in-house consultant to ensure that all meetings, activities and events (with particular focus on Flame Con) are as accessible as possible!

You’d advocate for Accessibility by:

  • Reviewing current Accessibility initiatives and adding to and improving them
  • Creating a budget for accessibility needs
  • Educating and assisting all volunteers and coordinators on accessibility protocols

You’d be available by email at least once a week and in contact with our Board/Flame Con Steering Committee minimum once a month.


Social Media / Content Coordinator

Do you believe an Insta story is worth a thousand words? Do you have a sixth sense for what will be trending on Twitter? Do you get a rush from stitching the perfect response to a TikTok? Do you run to Facebook to break down the latest official trailer release? #Awesome! Geeks OUT is looking for folks to keep the conversation going across our Geeks OUT & Flame Con social media accounts.

You’ll shape our voice by:

  • Regularly updating our feeds to let folks know what we’re up to
  • Monitoring & responding to comments with kindness & charm
  • Boosting other accounts & messages that align with our mission
  • Working with our Marketing Team Coordinator to brainstorm new ways we can stay engaged with our community

You’d be available by email at least once a week and in contact with our Marketing team once monthly.


Flame Con Exhibitor Coordinator

Exhibitors make Flame Con possible and they need your guidance! We are looking for folks that are able to conduct the Flame Con symphony. This involves but is not limited to handling all communications with our vendors, customizing our ticketing system, assigning table locations, managing applications and waitlists, and generating reports. 

The best people for this role will be comfortable:

  • Working an Eventbrite administrator
  • Using clear and diplomatic communication skills
  • Staying superbly organized and paying attention to details
  • Remaining flexible in swiftly changing circumstances

You’d check your Flame Con email no less than every two to three days, be available to work with the Flame Con Steering Committee two to five hours a week, and meet with our Board once a month.


Programming Coordinator

Panels are a major part of any convention whether they’re in person or virtual over the interwebs. We’re looking for someone to help curate, ideate, and manage panels for Flame Con and other outside conventions Geeks OUT attends.    

The best people for this role will have:

  • Understanding of the Geeks OUT Mission and be comfortable with representing Geeks OUT and our Mission.
  • Keen interest in queer and geeky topics
  • Comfort coordinating multiple schedules
  • Experience with Google suite (specifically Forms & Sheets)

You’d be available by email at least twice a week and available to meet with our Programming team up to 5 hours a month.


Post Sale Lead

This role will follow the post sale stages of the Sponsorship team to ensure that all obligations of a sponsorship agreement are met.

An ideal candidate:

  • Understands the Geeks OUT Mission and is comfortable with representing Geeks OUT and our Mission.
  • Is detail-oriented and able to review contracts for both parties’ obligations
  • Has experience with outreach to organizations with respect to deadlines and in order to keep organization representatives accountable based on contract obligations.
  • Will check their Geeks OUT email at least twice a week.
  • Communicates any challenges associated with obligations, including but not limited to, receiving materials, unresponsiveness, ill-treatment, and general communication issues.
  • Is comfortable in communicating payment deadlines or invoice inquiries to the Finance Team.

Merch Lead

A great way for Geeks OUT to get our message out and also fundraise is through our merch! This role is designed to help Geeks OUT manage our merchandise.

Responsibilities include:

  • Understanding the Geeks OUT Mission and being comfortable with representing Geeks OUT and our Mission.
  • Managing and maintaining an available merch list, including managing inventory and inventory display to our online marketplace. 
  • Work closely with the Finance chair, providing merch-related sales data to ensure a correct cost-of-goods assessment by the end of the fiscal year. 
  • Collaborate with theDesign and Finance chairs to develop promotional merch packages in order to increase marketability and sales reach. 
  • Work on improving Merch management systems by way of exploring new possible vendor options for a more practical merch sale and ship processing
  • Report on any missed opportunities for merch sales by reporting merch requests that were not fillable based on limited size or availability options.
