Graphic Designer

Are you a designer with a geek aesthetic? Are you looking for an opportunity to support an exciting LGBTQ non-profit? Get excited! Geeks OUT is looking for a Graphic Designer to join our team and help make our message shine.

We are looking for a graphic design volunteer who can:

 

  • Layout pamphlets, info cards, flyers for conventions we attend
  • Make 1-2 jazzy images each month that would help promote our events on social
  • Brainstorm with us on ways to revamp our website and t-shirt lewks

A modest stipend is available for this role.
 
You’d be available by email once or twice a week, and in contact with our Marketing team once monthly.
 
  

Technical Support

Geeks OUT is growing and so is the technology that keep us on track. We’re looking for a tech wizard that can conjure solutions to issues as they arise.

 

Skills in your bag of tricks:

 

  • The know-how to create WordPress layouts, add plugins, permission users, and answer folks’ website questions
  • A strong sense of best practices for the setup & admin of productivity apps (including Google Suite, Bitrix24, and more)
  • Act as Webmaster for geeksout.org

You’d be available by email at least once or twice a week, and in contact with our Marketing team once monthly.
 
  

Partnership Liaison

Geeks OUT is taking the world by storm! Well, not yet. We’re looking for someone who understands the world of strategic sponsorships and can help us partner with like-minded organizations.

 

Professional pizzaz you can bring to the table:

 

  • The ability to identify organizations interested in supporting queer geek culture through financial and media partnerships
  • A cheerful and confident email game – you’ll be reaching out large and small orgs alike
  • A background in non-profit fundraising and a willingness to learn more

You’d be available by email at least once a week and in contact with our Board’s Executive Committee once monthly.
 
  

Events Coordinator

Do you love creating fun, safe spaces for LGBTQ folx? Fabulous! Geeks OUT is looking for a host with the most to plan a variety of accessible events for all!

 

You can make the magic happen with your:

 

  • Knowledge of New York’s quirky social scene (think bars, book cafes, and more!)
  • Persistence – booking managers rarely wait by the phone for your call
  • Ability to plan, staff, and manage events

You’d be available by email at least once a week and in contact with our Outreach team once monthly.
 
  

Global Experiences Coordinator

Are you passionate about connecting a network of queer geeks across the country? Fabulous! Geeks OUT is looking for a host with the most to plan a variety of accessible events outside of NYC!

 

You’ll be a Geeks OUT global ambassador by:

 

  • Brainstorming event ideas with Geeks OUT chapters in DC, Chicago, LA, + other cities we haven’t landed in yet
  • Looking for opportunities to partner with local comic shops and other geek collectives
  • Recommending conventions we should have a presence at beyond tabling (post-con parties, book signings, you dream it up!)
  • Staying organized and in touch with many members of the Geeks OUT family across the country

You’d be available by email at least once a week and in contact with our Outreach team once monthly.
 
  

Social Media Coordinator

Do you have a Twitter game better than @Wendys? Do you run to Facebook to break down the latest official trailer release? #Awesome! Geeks OUT is looking for a social media coordinator to engage with our followers.

 

You’ll shape Geeks OUT’s voice by:

 

  • Regularly scheduling content to let folks know what we’re up to on the web and beyond.
  • Working with our Marketing Lead to be a positive queer voice that the internet needs right now.
  • Sincerely engaging with followers on all our platforms.

You’d be available by email at least once a week and in contact with our Marketing team once monthly.
 
  

Flame Con Sponsorship Coordinator

Do you know how to nurture corporate sponsors, navigate client relationships, and propose media partnerships? Flame Con needs you! We are currently looking to expand our sponsorship reach and need someone to lead us into these new waters.

 

The best person for this role will have:

 

  • Big passion and vision for growing a community gathering into a successful large-scale event
  • Fundraising, sales & marketing experience
  • A motivated go-get ‘em attitude
  • Perky and professional communication skills and be comfortable connecting with industry leaders

You’d be available by email once or twice a week and in contact with our Revenue team once monthly (more frequently in peak Flame Con season).
 
  

Flame Con Vendors Coordinators

Vendors make Flame Con possible and they need your guidance! We are looking for two individuals that are able to conduct the Flame Con symphony. You will handle all communications with our vendors, customize our ticketing system, assign table locations, manage applications and waitlists, and generate reports.

 

The best people for this role will have:

 

  • Ticketing system expertise (Eventbrite, Ticketspice, etc.)
  • Clear and diplomatic communication skills
  • A superbly organized and detail oriented manner
  • Agility to update listings in short time frames
